Chickens And Eggs Not Associated By Some Young Children, Say Eggs Come From Tesco

Picture of chickens eating corn on open ground near bamboo carriers in which farmers brought them to feed..

Bamboo carriers and shoulder pole was the way a farmer in Longzhou brought his chickens to feed on open ground away from town. Chickens and eggs are not only a source of income for the farmers, but provide the chickens and the eggs to eat when needed. In the big cities and towns of the western world, it is not unusual to find youngsters who believe that all eggs come from Tesco, or some other supermarket! They do not associate chickens and eggs with each other.

The chickens in the photo were undoubtedly 'free-range', so both the chickens and eggs would demand a higher price in some shops of the western would. The people in China would expect no other means of providing these than by the 'free range' method. The quality of food is an important aspect of their lifestyle, whether they live in the countryside, where they might keep their own chickens, or where they live in the large cities and dine in restaurants or snackbars.

*** Chickens as food: Roasted chicken.
The meat of the chicken, also called "chicken," is a type of poultry meat. Because of its relatively low cost, chicken is one of the most used meats in the world. Nearly all parts of the bird can be used for food, and the meat can be cooked in many different ways. Popular chicken dishes include roasted chicken, fried chicken, chicken soup, Buffalo wings, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, and chicken rice. Chicken is also a staple of fast food restaurants. Commercially produced is used as a reference point for describing other foods; many are said to "taste like chicken" if they are indistinctive.
