Selection Of Photographs Of China Including Chinese People And Chinese Food.

Taking photographs of China has become much easier since the digital cameras have become available. No more waiting for films to be developed and printed and then find that your precious photographs of China were not those that you were expecting. Those precious moments in time that you thought you had captured in the photographs had not been recorded. The routine is now much simpler and has a better chance of producing photographs that are acceptable if not perfect works of art!

The photographs of China shown on this page were taken in the Shaolin Temple and in the city of Dengfeng, except for the photograph of the Belly Pork, which was taken in a Beijing restaurant, near the International Hotel. This type of dish is one of those that by custom is served at a Chinese wedding banquet, although that was not the case when this particular photograph of belly pork was taken.

The belly pork is unlikely to be available at the new restaurant at the Shaolin Temple that is now giving service to visitors. The restaurant is part of the new development that has been opened at the Shaolin Temple, and the photographs of China show some of the groundwork near the Bell Tower. Much of the reconstruction work at the Temple, was carried out by workers using methods and tools that might have been used by their ancestors, even when removing bark from trees that were to be used in the new buildings.

However, at some times, power tools were used, particularly by the masonry workers when dealing with finishing work to steps and handrails, creating clouds of dust, not particularly suitable for taking photographs, even in China. When the masonry workers have finished their work, they are well entitled to be proud of the results.
